Airbourne has supported local charities with more than £100,000 in donations over the last decade, thanks to our kind airshow visitors.
For every £1 collected in the Airbourne bucket collection and through online donations, 70p supports flying displays at the show, and 30p is given to our three chosen local charities - all of whom support us with around 200 volunteer bucket collectors at the show.
Each year Airbourne selects three local charities to take part - two are chosen by our Bucket Collection partners - the Rotary Clubs of Sovereign Harbour and Hailsham, and the third charity - The People's Charity - is chosen by a public vote.
This year the People's Charity is the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS).
As an independent charity at the forefront of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) is reliant on the support of communities to ensure it can operate the life-saving service.
It costs £16.6million a year or £45,000 per day to be there for those most in need of the intervention of expert medical crews, with 87% of the charity’s total income raised through the incredible generosity of supporters.
Over the past three decades KSS has been tasked to more than 40,000 incidents, saving lives and improving patient outcomes from the skies above Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.
Learning about dementia and what services are available can be stressful and difficult for those affected. The EDAA’s purpose is to provide information to help people deal with this challenging and often frightening experience.
The EDAA also campaigns locally to raise awareness of dementia issues and improve services. Through the Eastbourne Dementia Inclusive Community Charter we aim to work with businesses and other organisations to make Eastbourne and the surrounding area a more dementia friendly and inclusive place. We are a small charity so any donations will enable us to continue to offer and even expand our service.
Eastbourne Citadel is part of the worldwide Salvation Army, a Christian church and charity. It has been actively involved in alleviating poverty, suffering and injustice for over 130 years.
The Salvation Army provides a safe place for people to socialise, meet others and receive various kinds of support.
We offer various services for rough sleepers, including the provision of food and a hot drink, as well as shower and laundry facilities.
There is computer access, advice and support given, and signposting to other agencies as needed. During the week there is access to key workers, a mental health worker, a dentist, and a podiatrist.
On Fridays the Rough Sleepers Initiative Team work on our premises to provide a healthy breakfast, access to medical services-doctor, nurses and mental health worker, and key workers. Various needs can be addressed.
At Christmas and other significant times, we also offer lunch supported by volunteers who offer to help, out of compassion.
Every donation helps!
